Play:Ground’ is a collaborative exhibition by emerging artists Renee Kire and Sunday Jemmott that reimagines the Ipswich Community Gallery as a lively conceptual playground centred on play, experimentation, and joyful discovery.

Curated by Amy Jane, the exhibition challenges traditional artistic boundaries and invites new modes of creative inquiry through dynamic combinations of installation, sculpture, and painting.

Working against the notion that to play is a trivial action, this body of work foregrounds aesthetic risk taking and collaborative discovery as a methodology of enhancing practice and building community. As with the physical playground, genuine joy is the intention and reward for abandoning the rules and expectations of this space.” — Jessica McNicol, excerpt from ‘Play:Ground’ exhibition essay

As Curator, I facilitated the collaboration between artists and Undone ARI, created marketing and engagement material aligned with the exhibitions playful nature, arranged an exhibition essay, supported funding applications and organised public programs.

This project was supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between Queensland Government and Ipswich City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
